CHANGES COMING TO WATER BILL PAYMENTS

City to Install a Payment Kiosk at City Hall

CENTER, Texas (November 1, 2012) – The way water customers pay their bills are about to radically change for the better.  The City will soon install a payment kiosk where the current drive-thru window is.  “Once the kiosk is operational, a person will not make drive-thru payments,” explained Barbara Boyd, Center City Secretary.  “People will be able to dive or walk up and make a payment.  Of course, the counter inside will remain open if a customer needs to talk with someone.”

One of the great benefits to the kiosk is that customers are able to check on the balance of their account and make a payment 24/7 instead of waiting until City Hall is open.  “Payments made are instantly applied to water accounts,” described Center City Manager Chad Nehring.  “The only drawback is that the kiosk will not return coin change for cash payments.”  Those customers will receive bill change and a credit for the remaining change on their account.

The kiosk is scheduled to be installed about the first week of November.  During construction, people are encouraged to either mail their payments or come inside City Hall.
