CITY OF CENTER HOSTS FIRST TIME HOME BUYER CLASS

CENTER, Texas (February 7, 2013) – Over 20 people attended a first-time home buyer class at the Windham Civic Center on February 4 and 5.  “The purpose of the class is to try to teach Center residents some of the skills which are necessary in the home buying process,” said Center Mayor David Chadwick.  “The class covered topics such as starting a home budget, saving for a down payment, applying for and securing a mortgage.  There was a lot of good information.”

“We presented this class in August 2011 and about 15 people completed the class,” reported Mark Taylor of Gary Traylor & Associates, the firm who teaches the class.  “We use a curriculum called Neighbor Works and this time we had 23 people go through the class.  We are very pleased with this turnout.”

“We hope to offer this program again soon and provide other informational sessions to prospective homeowners,” said Center City Manager Chad Nehring.
