City to Host Homeowner Rehabilitation Workshops

Has your home fallen into such a state of disrepair that it is sub standard?

If you can answer Yes to the following questions you may qualify for a grant or loan to replace it with a NEW/ REHABILITATED home.

1 . Do you own your own home?
2. Is it within the city limits of Center?
3. Is your gross yearly income at or below the limits shown below?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you meet the basic eligibility re-quirements for assistance under the HOME Program. The City of Center has received a HOME Program grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. The funds will be used to assist eligible homeowners to completely reconstruct or rehabilitate their dwelling. You are encouraged to attend one of the public meetings at John D. Windham Civic Center, 146 Express Blvd. Center, Texas on Thursday, June 16, 2016. One meeting will be held at 2: 30 p. m. and another at 5: 30 p. m. Topics to be discussed include:

  • How to qualify for this program
  • Income limits
  • Available funding
  • All eligible funding activities

Citizens unable to attend this meeting may call Jim Gibson at ( 936) 598- 2941 to obtain an application form. Applications must be turned in at Center City Hall, 617 Tenaha Street ( P. O. Box 1744), Center, Texas 75935. Application deadline is Thursday, June 30, 2016. Special assistance in obtaining application forms is available upon request for persons with disabilities. Persons with disabilities and/ or individuals who require auxiliary aids or services for this meeting should contact City Hall at least two days before the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
