City of Center Next “Coffee With the Mayor” for August 2012
City busy during first half of the year
CENTER, Texas (August 1, 2012) – Everyone in Center is invited to attend the next 2012 “Coffee with the Mayor” scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at 7:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Windham Civic Center.
“We have had a very busy year!” exclaimed Center Mayor David Chadwick. “We are always having something going on or some project or goal we are working towards. We also know summers are busy for everyone but we wanted to have our next ‘Coffee with the Mayor’ before school started.”
Not only is this a time for Center residents to hear about some of the projects going on such as the new sidewalk and trail program, the opening of the Mini Park, the renovation and expansion of Community House, and the annual City budget but this is a great opportunity for people to directly ask questions of their elected officials. Mr. Buster Bounds completed a video of the grand re-opening of Mini Park which will be released at this time.
“The ‘Coffee with the Mayor’ events are scheduled once a quarter and provides a means for us at the city to meet with people in the community and learn what is important to them,” stated Mayor Chadwick.
“City Council meetings are structured because of state Open Meetings Laws, unless something is clearly posted on the formal agenda there is little interaction that the Council is supposed to have with public at the meetings,” described the Mayor. “By having some informal meetings without a formal agenda, it allows a good open dialogue between the City and the people we serve”.
The event does not require an RSVP and is an informal come-and-go setting.
