City of Center Announces CodeRED Contest Winner

CENTER, Texas (November 22, 2011) – The City of Center is pleased to announce that Don and Johnnie Perry are the winners of the Code RED contest. They will be presented a $100 savings bond, courtesy of Farmers State Bank.

“The City started this contest to create more awareness of the Code RED program that is available to all City residents,” explained Chad Nehring, Center City Manager. Code RED is a reverse 9-1-1 system, where you will receive a text message or a call on your cell or home phone in an emergency event. “The City can activate Code RED if there is a local incident such as a hazardous material spill,” described Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom. “Or, if a severe weather warning is issued by the National Weather Service, then Code RED will automatically make the call.”

Mr. Nehring further detailed that Code RED is free to sign up for City residents.

“Farmers State Bank was happy to partner with the City to advertise Code RED. I would encourage all City residents to sign up for this free service,” said Center Mayor David Chadwick.

Mr. & Mrs. Perry will be presented their savings bond at the next Coffee with the Mayor on December 6, 2011, at 7:30 am at the Windham Civic Center.
