This slideshow will provide a visual description of how the City of Center has grown since 1999.
You will be looking at satellite aerial images very similar to what you can find on programs like Google Earth.
The area we will be looking at is the intersection of US 96/Hurst Street and Roughrider Drive.
1999
Roughrider Drive was a wooded county road.
FL Moffett is located in the top left corner.
Roughrider Stadium is in its' current location.
There are a few houses on the south side of Roughrider.
There are chicken houses below the stadium
2004
The Wal-Mart Super Center was just completed. Notice that there are no cars in the parking lot.
Roughrider Drive has been developed.
The new Center High School has been completed.
The new Shelby Regional Training Center has been built.
There are some new businesses and buildings on Hwy 96.
2009
The new Center Elementary School is under construction.
Much of the land next to Wal Mart has been cleared.
The Holiday Inn Express has been built.
The Center Market Place (Beall's shopping center) has been built.
Foster Drive has been built connecting Hwy 96 to Tenaha Street.
Even more businesses have gone on Hwy 96.
Harper Drive has been constructed
Present Day
The Windham Civic Center has been built.
Civic Center Drive has been built.
The Hampton Inn has been completed.
The McDonald's next to Wal-Mart has been completed.
