Jim Forbes

Councilman Jim Forbes was elected to the at-large seat on the City Council in 1993 when the at-large seat became vacant.  He graduated from Mena High School in Mena, Arkansas, and he attended Southern University in Magnolia, Arkansas, for two years.  He is retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service and he served for 31 years on the Center Fire Department.  He and his wife, Anna, have been married for 58 years and have three children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Forbes and his wife have also been volunteers for the United States Weather Service for the past 43 years. 

Councilman Forbes wishes to see three projects completed:  the extension of Parker Parkway (Loop 500), extension of the Center city limits, and to enhance the waste water collection and treatment system.

Mr. Forbes and his family are members of the First Baptist Church of Center.
